Mobile audio and video is an ever changing and evolving hobby and passion for some and a necessity for others. Whether its just replacing an old tape player or busted speaker there is always a solution. Sometimes newer cars have radios that are integrated and it seems like you have no options but with new products on the market anyone can update their car to have better sound.
Speakers, can be one of the largest upgrades that can be made to your vehicle. There are two basic types of speakers available a co axial and component speaker system. A co axial or co-ax is referred to a speaker that has the tweeter and the woofer integrated into one chassis. These are the simplest to install and have the largest variety of manufactures to choose from. A component speaker system is when the woofer and tweeter are separated and would be mounted on their own. Some vehicles today do come factory with these as an option, and would be preferred if replaced again with this style of speaker system. Components do take longer to install since the usually do have a crossover network that is separate also and must be located near the speaker location as well. Component speakers will often but not always result in a better sounding system.
Head Units, this is where quality can really come into play. Sometimes it seems as if flashy displays or shiny buttons might be the best head unit to choose from since it is often then most expensive. This is not often the truth, don’t be distracted with flash, sound quality and functionality are key here, keeping a safe and user friendly driving environment is always important. As areas in the US are changing to hand free calling as the only legal way to make calls in your vehicle we offer numerous head units with this built in.
Subwoofers can be a big addition to any vehicles sound system. There are two main areas that subwoofers are designed around the most commonly thought of is SPL otherwise known as Sound Pressure Level. SPL is a measure of how much force or pressure can be generated, this is then related to decibels, with some of the louder systems reaching 175+ db that’s more than 30db louder than a commercial jet at take off. The other type of subwoofer that is more commonly integrated into a vehicle system for daily use is one designed Sound Quality or SQ. These subwoofers still have the ability to play loudly if needed but are more intended to smoothly integrate into the rest of the system and fill in the bottom octaves that are unable to be played by smaller speakers.
How do you create power for all of these speakers, but with a separate amplifier? Separate amplification can create a huge step up in sound quality, these amplifiers either for the full range coaxial / component speaker or subwoofers have better components and lager output devices to create more controlled and full sounds. Some amplifiers even have tubes in them for those customers that are looking for the best sound quality out of their vehicles.
